Jon Loomes and Paul Scourfield
Jon Loomes and Paul Scourfield are an exciting new act on the folk scene, bringing a fresh and vibrant approach to traditional songs and tunes.
Jon is a fine interpreter of traditional song, creating wonderful new versions of old songs. He is also a fine guitarist - a wonderfully melodic player - also adding fiddle, hurdy gurdy and concertina. Paul is a highly respected melodeon player, playing with a perfect mix of energy and sensitivity, also adding the odd song for good measure.
Together, Jon and Paul's music combines effortlessly, with soaring melodies and fine singing, packed with energy and imagination.
Individually they have performed at Sidmouth, Towersey and Whitby festivals, as well as folk clubs up and down the country. Together they performed their debut gig at the inaugural Sheffield Folk Festival in 2004, with further appearances at the Bedworth and Broadstairs festivals, and are beginning to work their way round the country’s folk clubs.
Jon has recently released his debut album on Fellside Records - “Fearful Symmetry” - which features Paul on a number of tracks. Samples of their music can be found on the Have a Listen page.
"Foot stomping tunes, rousing choruses and moving songs."
